Maxi Skirt

I have been wanting one of these little guys for quite some time now: the Maxi Skirt. Problem: my legs are abnormally long for my body so THEY ARE NEVER LONG ENOUGH!

Enter: Goodwill hunting. Thank you my favorite Goodwill on Leetsdale avenue. You are the best. Not only is it black and white (goes with everything) but it is almost too long! Yay!

Oh. And did I mention it was 2 dolla?!!!!

Sandals: Steve Madden (mom's closet) Maxi Skirt: Goodwill $2, Shirt: JCrew (outlet) $30, Belt: Goodwill $1, Bangles: Fossil and Mom's Closet.
I

So Josh and I ran the Trail at Red Rocks today. Confession: I find Red Rocks to be one of the coolest places in all of the front range. Truth be told, I sort of ran but mostly walked as it turns out it is a 4 mile run and not the 2.5 like we had originally thought. No wonder I'm sore! I didn't bring my camera up there as I was too busy concentrating on not dying to take photos. But to give you an idea of what we are working with here:

A couple photos of the trail we ran today....

And what red rocks looks like at night when there is a concert happening. Beautiful right?

As for the shopping ban: still going strong a week later.. i told my mom of my plans and she got a good chuckle out of it. And Josh replied, "Not even to the Goodwill?" I said, "Oh, you're right, this will be tough." So the ban still stands, but a shopping trip once a month to the Goodwill will be allowed and I cannot spend more than $20. Ready. Go!

Spring has Sprung

Boat Shoes $5 Goodwill (Target), Pants: $20 Target, Shirt: JCrew (outlet) $30, Belt Goodwill $1, Scarf: Old Navy (gift from mom)

some pretty flowers starting to bloom in the backyard!!!

I love this time of the year in Denver. Riding my bike everyday to work (I get there in 20 minutes f.y.i) this was last friday's "Casual Friday" look...yeah I'm that behind this week. I said I will do better, and with the sun going down a bit later there will be time for outdoor photos!

I've also somehow missed my one year mark. I have been blogging for a year, wowzers! I need to do something drastic....And I've decided after reading a very inspiring blog- (I will find the link and share it with you) that I am not going to shop for 6 months. Yes. There. I said it. I've decided I spend way too much money trying to add to a closet that is already wayyyyyy too full. And I have 2 of them that are soooo full. So I have decided. No. More. Shopping. And one more closet cleanse.

So on this day of March 29th, 2012, I Lindsey Garrett, will not shop for clothes and I am abiding by the "wear it out and use it up" philosophy. I will explain more in the next post. But I will be documenting this journey and letting you know how it turns out! I'm guessing it will be catastrophic!

The only exemption from this rule- if my favorite shopping partner is in Denver, or I am with her in Illinois. And I can buy presents for others (like my adorable baby nephew...geez, y'all I have a nephew! Did I tell you that?!)

Let's see if I can make it. Ready. GO!!!

Day 161: Pet Peeve

OK, OK, I know this is a horrible picture...but yes all of that brown stuff is a pile of snow in the KMart parking lot. Mom wanted me to "blog about the snow" but I didn't get home in the daylight, so Mom, this is all you get..for now.
She will be here on Thursday and she will see for herself...24 inches of snow being pushed around Denver. I thought I was going to get my first official snow day from work and I got up all early like a kid in school Friday morning, turned on the news anddddddddddd!!!! Nope. 3,000 other businesses were closed but not mine! Not mine!

We did get sent home 1.5 hours early on Friday afternoon, it was a fun walk home from the light rail let me tell ya! The snow was over my boots and my biggest pet peeve in this world is WET SOCKS! I had to deal with them all damn day at my desk! It was awful!

 What's your pet peeve?

Anyways this is what I wore today. Got this skirt from Nordstrom Rack for $7...I didn't know you could get ANYTHING at Nordstrom Rack for $7. Apparently they were having their "fall clearance-get-this-crap-out-of-here-so-we-can-make-room-for-all-the-spring-shit sale!
I went in for underwear (I only wear Hanky Pankys) I will have to do a separate blog about my love for Hanky Panky underwear. If you've never tried them please do so. You will not regret it, I promise you!

Boots: Macy's $60, Tights: Target $8, Skirt: Nordstrom Rack $7, Shirt: JCrew (Outlet) $30, Scarf: Express: Gift from Momma, Coat: Tulle (hippie shop in Mt Vernon, IL) $60

Oh yeah, Cardigan too: Old Navy $10

What's in the Kmart bags? Keurig K-Cups (Hazelnut Deliciousness) $12, Toothpaste $3, Teddy Grahams $3, Sour Patch Kids (the biggest bag of them ever!) $3, Kettle Corn $3, Minute Rice $3, Slip on Booties (because my house is negative 6 degrees with hard wood floors) $6

And mom, before you comment I meant to have the KMart bags in the back. I went in there for toothpaste and coffee and came out of there with $50 worth of stuff I don't need...you know the drill! I just wanted to give a shout out to KMart for rockin' my socks off yet again!

Day 150: My New Favorites

I'm in Love! I'm in Love! and I don't care who knows it!!!! (Just thinking about it being the time of the year when I can watch Elf 400 times and it not be frowned upon makes me very happy)
I saw these babies in H&M last time I was shopping with Mom Terri (she is the best shopping partner ever and I miss her face) but was highly disappointed when all they had was a size 9...normally my big ol gargantuan feet would NEVER fit into a size 9, but these shoes must have been meant for me...magically they fit. Plus they are faux fur (yes faux never real) so no need for socks! I have hardwood floors and an exposed brick house so these have been on my feet around the house for some time now. Thought it was time to get them out of the house and out on the town!

Shoes: H&M $24, Skinnies: Wal Mart $10, Camisole: Goodwill $1, Top: JCrew (outlet) $30

What do you think? Are they too slipper-tastic? A tad bag lady? Should they stay in the house? Nahhhhhhhh.

Day 108: What's in the Bucket? Part II

I'm gonna take y'all back a few weeks to my bday list. I was lusting over a pair of patterned shorts from JCrew.
Or these floral ones from Loft...

I have been on the Goodwill Hunt ever since. And last Thursday, I found some.
Oh yeah, I put the spotlight on 'em.
Shoes: Goodwill $5, Shorts: Goodwill $3, Shirt: JCrew Outlet $30

And I have also been wanting some boat shoes ever since I saw my friend Laura prancing around in them last fall. Snagged these for $5, brand new, tags still on 'em.
I really wanted the pink ones, but they didn't have them in Sasquatch size :(
I was so pumped to find these, and at $3, put 'em in the bucket!

Day 87: Inspiration Monday....on a Tuesday

So I'm slackin' a bit but I still wanna participate in Inspiration Monday! Is that okay, ladies? Megan and Nora over at Two Birds came up with this idea and I think its brilliant! And any excuse to wear my new chambray shirt is fine. by. me.

The Inspiration:
The lovely Brooklyn Decker, ladies and gentlemen. If I revealed that much leg at work I think the guys working in the warehouse would fall off their forklifts. So I had to tone it down a notch and wear shorts, otherwise I would totally be down with the leg showage!

Shoes: The Buckle (its been a hundred years ago but I imagine they were around $30 or $40, Shorts: Target $20, Shirt: JCrew $30
I absolutely love my new hairdo. So much I think I'm going to go back to Aveda soon and give Mr Ian a big fat kiss on the lips. (or maybe just a card to say thank you) He talked me into a deep conditioning treatment that worked wonders. I haven't washed my hair in almost three days and it still looks so clean and healthy.

Oh yes, the shoes, how could I forget these. I loves them so much, my sister talked me into buying them about 6 years ago, they have been through the ringer, holding up great after a lot of gorilla glue! I think the little bows on them are so adorable. I feel like such a girl when I wear them.

Well unfortunately I have to make a flyer for work so I have to stop blogging....BOOOOOO!

Day 83: Back to my roots

I got my hair did today....i was going to add more blonde and cut bangs....buttttt, I changed my mind at the last second and decided to dye it all one color, let the sun do the highlighting this summer. Oh and the bangs, the neighboring stylist (who was hilarious and awesome) talked me out of it she mentioned "plastered to your forehead, and always in the way" with as active as I am in the summer, better wait til fall on the bangs.

Here's the new do!

I know, I'm so boring! I was going to do more but I went to the Aveda academy downtown and although cheap (I got the cut and color for $40 + tip) it took him 5 hrs!!! That's the price you pay for a cheap hairdo these days. He did do a good job though, I love the color. First time a dude has ever cut my hair I was so happy. Always wanted one to.

My outfit inspiration
My spin on it:

Gladiators: Rocketdog, gift from mom, Shorts: Target $10, Shirt: JCrew $30. Haircut: Aveda Academy $40.

I had a rather large lady sing sarcastically, "who wears short shorts?" to me as I got off the light rail this morning. Made me feel slightly uncomfortable at first then I thought, "I do, you jerk!" Granted, they are a bit Hollister-ish and definitely do not pass the "hands down at your sides, at your fingertips" rule we had in high school (as I'm displaying in the second picture). I never thought that rule was fair anyways, I have abnormally long arms.

I'm not going to have these legs forever and as long as I am doing something to keep them in shape, I'm gonna show them off. So screw that lady and her opinions, hope she chokes on a Twinkie.
