Day 66: First Battle with tofu: Outfit 6

By the Numbers:
#5) Silver Flats: Goodwill $7
#19) Blue Shorts: Goodwill $3
#29) Polka Dot Tank: Goodwill $2.50

It was so darn tootin' nice here in Denver today, 70 degrees anyone? That I decided to bust out the shorts, took the chance of blinding everyone within a 4 block radius from my whiter than white legs. I then decided to prance around my backyard taking photos of myself. My neighbor just sort of pretends he doesn't notice but I know he's thinking "What in the WORLD is that girl doing?"

My entire outfit is Thrifted today!! Whoo Hoo, Grand Total of $18 dolla and 50 cent!
I did something new today......I cooked tofu. I order it all the time at restaurants, but to be quite frank here, the thought of cooking it always scared me. Not sure why.

DIY: How to Cook Tofu (to put in Stir Fry)
I went with the "Extra Firm" version because, come on what girl doesn't want extra firm in her life?
Step 1: Drain Tofu
One might think that just draining it in the sink, like so, would do the trick. Oh no not in the world of Tofu it doesn't. Apparently Tofu is just a big absorbing spongelike creature that needs special draining techniques.
Step 2: Place paper towels on top of bottom of Tofu, place cutting board on top of tofu, place 2 or 3 cans of whatevs on top of cutting board, and let drain for 15 minutes. (not kidding the guy in the Youtube video said this was necessary)
Step 3. While waiting for Tofu to dry, WOK IT OUT! WOK IT OUT! WOK IT OUT!
Step 4: After you are done "woking" out, place wok on stove, put some oil in it and let it get hot.
Step 5. Remove Tofu from its vice (poor little Tofu) and dice it up.
Step 6: Place Tofu in pan...like a-so
Step 7: Get all other necessary crap out of fridge/freezer/pantry to make Stir Fry happen: veggies, stir-fry sauce, soy sauce, oooooo edamame, and rice.

Step 8. Mix up sauce packet as instructions say. If you have a cute bowl, like these adorable ones my momma gave me (made from recyclable materials, duh) it makes this part more fun.
Step 9: While everything is cookin', eat as much Edamame as possible.

Step 10: Put over rice and enjoy!

Best part, because you substituted Tofu for something way more fattier, you get to have strawberry shortcake for dessert. Its a fact.
way worth the Tofu.....fo sure....

Day 50: Go to a football game

Today is my 50th day of blog posting! Whoohoo....just like Sally O'Mally I'm Fifty! And I like to kick, stretch, and kick!!! I love Molly Shannon, and I love this skit.

cant get the video to work dagnabit! but here's the link to the video http://youtu.be/aiehDcVZ-vA

I also realized I did something yesterday that fits into the "try something new" category: I went to my first football game! I know sad, right? I went a very small high school where even if every guy in my high school played we still wouldn't have enough for a full team or is it squad, or squadron? I think they scored goal/unit/baskets or something. I know absolutely nothing about football.  I stayed start to finish to, thanks Broomfield Dawgs for giving this opportunity.

Day 32: Give Self-Tanners a Go

I have recently decided to never get back in a tanning bed again...after my recent scare with Melanoma (biopsy came back negative (whew) maybe we should put an end to the fake-baking once and for all.

However, I feel like I look something like Rose in Titanic when she is in freezing water...
yep. That's my skin tone: alabaster.
So what is a Scottish/Irish girl supposed to do to keep herself from being transparent? Self tanners are supposed to be a solution. Problem: They stain and they smell awful.

This is what I bought. I got a dollar off coupon, still I think it was $6. Not too expensive. Used it last night for the first time. It smells a little but nothing like most of 'em I've tried.  I will post pictures periodically to let you know if it works.

Day 31: Go Ski-Biking

Oh yeah kiddos, this was a blasty blast. I really don't know how I lived in the mountains for 3 years and NEVER TRIED THIS....THIS.....SKI BIKING!!!!!

My friend Megs is visiting from Charleston, SC and neither one of us had ever done it before, got a sweet discount, so we thought, why not?
Sidenote: I've only skied three times in my life on the bunny slopes so the first ride down was, well terrifying!
How it works:
They put you in ski boots, then strap these lovely snow-skate lookin' things to your boots (walking around in these is almost as hard as walking in heels...almost) and then you sit your butt down on one of these guys...
I was hell on wheels! The guide at the back of the group (who knocked one of his front teeth out on a ski-bike last week) said I got the "most improved award" at the end of the night. (to be honest I was just getting tired of getting beat down the slopes by this 5 year old girl...she was flying! out of her mind I tell you!)

I will have pictures of me on the bike soon. Megs is gonna email them to me

Moral of the story.... if you ever have a chance to go Ski-Biking do not hesitate...most fun I've had in awhile!

Day 1: Start your own blog.

Okay friends (can I call you friend?) starting a blog has been on my list for awhile now, how long I can't be certain, but we'll just say "obsessed" is a good word to describe my feelings for blogging. To find a topic to blog about has been my main concern...what will people want to "follow" about me? I am a completely random person...so that's what this blog will be COMPLETELY RANDOM. Momma always said anything worth doin' is worth doin' right, so I'm going big party people. 365 days. Every single day. 365 things i do differently. It will start pretty trivial. But be patient my friends, I will get better at this. So come along with me on this magical journey called "blogging".

Day 29: Display New Colored Bottles

My Mom sent these to me in the mail. Aren't they pretty? K. Bye.

Day 27: Rinse and Reuse

I have been trying for awhile to be more eco-friendly. Living in Colorado this is pretty easy to do. Here are the golden 5 small steps that I follow when trying to make less of an imprint in this world.

#1) Use reusable bags
The key here is to not leave them in the trunk of your car, which I tend to do frequently...got these beauties from Trader Joe's the last time I was in California...super durable and they hold a lot of stuff. Don't be afraid to bring them with you to the mall (how many more Forever 21 bags does one need, really?)

Rule #2) Reduce, Reuse, Recyle
My mother taught me how to do this many, many years ago. She would collect her recyclables and once a month take it 45 mins to the closest recycling place. So I don't wanna here any "my town doesn't do curbside pickup" bullcrap. My mom was a mother of 3 and worked full time and she found the time to recycle! She also has a strict no littering policy. Once when I was young I threw my Popsicle stick out the window of the backseat, because, well it was just one Popsicle stick right? Oh no, she whipped a U-turn so fast and made me look 30 mins until I found it. I have never littered since. I wish everyone's mother was as concerned about the environment as mine.

Rule #3) Buy reusable containers whenever possible
This is the first time I have bought a reusable milk container. I have to drive a little bit further to the Sunflower Market off Colorado to get it, but it is worth it!

Rule #4) Don't leave the water running when you brush your teeth.
This is just ridiculous and has no point. The girl I shared a hotel room with did this and I about had a fit! Really what does that accomplish? NOTHING!!!!

Rule #5) Shop at the Goodwill
Keeps it out of the landfills people, and it saves you money! Win Win

I have many more rules that I follow, but these are the simplest. After all, we only have one earth.

Day 21: Watch Tosh's New Standup

So I technically did this last night. My lil' bro is quite the computer nerd (no offense, brudder, in truth I'm just jealous of your superior knowledge) he works for Apple (tubular) so he immediately downloaded Tosh's new standup (which I'm sure this is completely legal) to his Apple TV (spectacular invention from some very brilliant minds) and we watched it....those with me in attendance:
My Nieces: Dora and Zoe (cutest things ever)
 BSC.
Computer Nerd
SISTER AKA SUPERB TILER/DECORATOR/SWEETHEART
Such a great night. I love you all and can't wait to see you again!

Day 17: Go to Dermatologist

I am a little angry right now folks. I had all these cute pictures from today (even got Josh to take a picture of my outfit), documented my journey to Apex Dermatology, tried to upload, and my photo editing software decided to delete them all. CURSES!!!!!! I'm not sure what happened so I won't have any photos to share with you today.

Didn't go for anything serious, just a rash on my arm....was told it is not a fungus (gross) or anything I'm allergic to (whew) just a hereditary rash (thanks mom!). Also got a mole checked out from my days of doing this:
I know, I know these things are incredibly dangerous and I haven't been in one since 2004. I used to fake bake all the time, and go outside without sunscreen, but look at me now! Miss Pale 2011! I am embracing the paleness as I would encourage all of you to do. I had to get a biopsy done on one of my little moles today. Sure its nothing serious I just didn't want to wait and have it look like this:
Ok, sorry about that! Extremely disgusting right? If this won't make you put sunscreen on your face I don't know what will!

Day 15, Part 2: Pay $8 For Internet Access

Dang you Tulsa airport for not having free Wi-Fi!!!! It would also be the first time I have ever seen a white school bus on the runway. Looks like a prison bus actually. Yep. Right there next to gate 56. Anyways, this is a first for me, never paid for Wi-Fi but I got dropped off at the airport a tad early. 7 hours early to be exact. (might be a tutorial that follows "How to Survive 7 Hours in the Tulsa Airport..stay tuned) I was really looking forward to updating my blog today, so I will pay you, At&t...but just this once you slimy turds.
I'll probably expense it since I'm under on my allowance for the week. Decided to splurge last night. I also decided to document my "eating in at the Holiday Inn" experience and share it with y'all.
Sidenote: turns out Tulsa is not big on pedestrians as I about got plowed by a delivery truck attempting to make a right turn...
This is how I was feeling all day yesterday......blah.
I decided to get Cheesecake Factory TO GO!
Avocado Eggrolls paired with yummy mixed greens.
Then i remembered I usually get Avocado Eggrolls and share them with Joshua, this made me sad.
I then found this gem, layered cheesecake/chocolate cake, I was all smiles...for 45 seconds.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
