Day 156: Snowflakes!

Dear Snowflakes,

Get up to the mountains where you belong!  When you show up  in Denver you just anger me, I can't play in you, you just make my commute to work that much more sucky. Although you make things very beautiful, Please stop. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,

Slippin' and Slidin' Lindsey

Boots: Macy's $60, Tights: F21 $6, Shirt: F21 $20, Sweater: KMart $10, Necklace: Fossil (gift from mom)

Well, Snowflakes, Since I see you all the time I thought I would incorporate you into my outfit somehow, do you feel special? This is one of my new favorite outfits, put together by miss Jennifer Sulze during her stay here. Not too shabby love. Not too shabby. P.s.I dislike the way my skin tone looks in indoor pictures :(

Well, its hump day. That's all I have to say about that.

Day 155: With a Lil Help From Ikea

Sunday, Josh and I took a little adventure to a magical wonderland called IKEA. I was in absolute awe. I mean I've seen it in movies but nothing could have prepared me for the awesomeness that is IKEA. I think we spent about 2 hours or so there (luckily there was a tv playing football in one of the corners surrounded by about 20 happy gentlemen patiently awaiting their wives/girlfriends return where Josh had to spend a few minutes) But for the most part he thought it was pretty terrific too.

The reason for the trip: to acquire some cheap legs/sawhorse like things. I've been wanting to get a kitchen table for quite some time now, I've been searching Craigslist, Wally's, Target, thrift stores, but have not found anything of interest :(  I remember being in Anthropologie a month ago and they had a table made out of an old door (price tag $2,559....yeah its an old door people!) So in my usual fashion I said, "hey! I can make that!" I just happened to be searching the creepy murder basement of my house today and found....yep, an old door! BINGO! So I googled: "how to make a table from an old door" and I found:

http://www.designsponge.com/2008/01/diy-project-dining-table.html
And here is my take:
The door was already painted this way! Bonus!

Ikea sawhorse lookin' thingies: $10 each (spent $20 total)
I guess if I wanted to get fancy (like the design sponge table) I would have to cover it in some sort of glass or polyurethane...but I think I'm gonna just leave it rustic...get some cute placemats...over all I am super pumped with how it turned out!

Happy Tuesday everyone...hope i keep this blogging thing going! I'm trying!

Day 154: Christmas Crafty

Its been snowing profusely here in Denver...and not much in the mountains which makes me a very sad snowboarder. However, being stuck in the house all weekend has given me much needed crafty-crafty time!
Each year for Christmas (because of my dwindling bank account and my general desire for arts and crafts time) I make my family something cute. This year: Lightbulb snowmen ornaments.
Here's where I got the inspiration: Lightbulb snowman ornament

And here is my take:

Pretty cute, huh? The only socks I could bear to part with were these polka dot ones (sadly they have a hole in the heel) Where are all those random socks when I need them?! I swear I couldn't find any lying around!

I also made this, um well, decoration of sorts...but it looks like a third grader did it...not my finest work.
And then I also made this star for my very own Christmas tree!
It says "I wish I may, I wish I might"
The good news is I had ALL of the materials for today's crafty-crafty session lying around the house. So money spent on all of these goodies=zilch, zero, nada.

Day 152: Missing In Action

Alrighty. Very sorry about the 10 day absence there folks. I started a new job last week as an Admissions Counselor for an online university and will be starting my Master's degree in April (whoo hoo!!!) The tricky part has been that the training goes from 8am-5:30pm everyday. Not too much time left for blogging. Plus it is pinch black  when I get home now (dang you daylight savings time!) I am going to have to start taking outfit  pictures in the dark (boo) or inside (double boo) Also my internet hasn't been working all week, which really makes me an angry bear at Comcast.

However, I did happen pre-job to find some dandy thrifty treasures I would like to share with you today.

My little "craft studio" is starting to come along quite nicely....
Goodwill Pillows: Yellow $1, Pink $2

Seat Cushion: Goodwill (World Market) $1.50,

Lil Cabinet Thingie to house all my crafting items $4

Desk: Craigslist $20

It has a little extended part for when I'm hardcore crafting and need more space..

Then it slides in to give me more space when I'm not.

Next on the list for the craft studio....a handy jewelry organizer frame-thingie!

Cute....right?

I have to dress "business casual" at my new job an the outfits have been really ho-hum and not worth posting. I am stepping up my game!

Day 150: My New Favorites

I'm in Love! I'm in Love! and I don't care who knows it!!!! (Just thinking about it being the time of the year when I can watch Elf 400 times and it not be frowned upon makes me very happy)
I saw these babies in H&M last time I was shopping with Mom Terri (she is the best shopping partner ever and I miss her face) but was highly disappointed when all they had was a size 9...normally my big ol gargantuan feet would NEVER fit into a size 9, but these shoes must have been meant for me...magically they fit. Plus they are faux fur (yes faux never real) so no need for socks! I have hardwood floors and an exposed brick house so these have been on my feet around the house for some time now. Thought it was time to get them out of the house and out on the town!

Shoes: H&M $24, Skinnies: Wal Mart $10, Camisole: Goodwill $1, Top: JCrew (outlet) $30

What do you think? Are they too slipper-tastic? A tad bag lady? Should they stay in the house? Nahhhhhhhh.
