Day 152: Missing In Action

Alrighty. Very sorry about the 10 day absence there folks. I started a new job last week as an Admissions Counselor for an online university and will be starting my Master's degree in April (whoo hoo!!!) The tricky part has been that the training goes from 8am-5:30pm everyday. Not too much time left for blogging. Plus it is pinch black  when I get home now (dang you daylight savings time!) I am going to have to start taking outfit  pictures in the dark (boo) or inside (double boo) Also my internet hasn't been working all week, which really makes me an angry bear at Comcast.

However, I did happen pre-job to find some dandy thrifty treasures I would like to share with you today.

My little "craft studio" is starting to come along quite nicely....

Goodwill Pillows: Yellow $1, Pink $2

Seat Cushion: Goodwill (World Market) $1.50,

Lil Cabinet Thingie to house all my crafting items $4

Desk: Craigslist $20

It has a little extended part for when I'm hardcore crafting and need more space..

Then it slides in to give me more space when I'm not.

Next on the list for the craft studio....a handy jewelry organizer frame-thingie!

 

Cute....right?

I have to dress "business casual" at my new job an the outfits have been really ho-hum and not worth posting. I am stepping up my game!

Day 125: Um, Is That a Rug?

Yes, those were words that my mother asked when I held up my treasure at the Goodwill. I answered, "It probably was at one time!"

True, this vest-like creature looks like it has been through the ringer, but the more love someone puts into an article of clothing the more I love it, really.

In honor of "Thrifty Thursday" almost all of my outfit is thrifted, minus the bracelet, that was a gift. 

I don't do purple often, nor patterns, and I especially never do poofy sleeves, for that matter, but there was something unique about this top and I just had to have it.

The jeans are the ones I was referring to yesterday as my favorites. They are quite snug almost to the point of being uncomfortable. Me and my running shoes are gonna stomp all over that little problem.

Day 115: Colored Jeans?

This is one trend I have always thought "Just don't go there." Leave this one to the stick-thin celebrities with their on call personal trainers and personal chefs.

I do have a rule of thumb when trying trends: Try to find it at the Goodwill first.
Nothing worse then paying full price for a trendy piece of clothing that will be an afterthought in less than a month.

Once again, the Goodwill gods have shined their light upon me this month:

Shoes: Wal Mart $15, Shirt: Wal Mart $5, Jeans: Goodwill $6

Picked these bad boys up for $6. I wasn't sure if they were for me at first seeing them on the rack. But I've been flirting with the idea of trying colored denim for awhile now. Perfect fit, long enough (perhaps a little too long) and the icing on the cake: I found a Tattered Cover (big, awesome book store in Denver) receipt in the pocket. These jeans are meant for me.

Can't wait til fall so I can tuck these into some boots! Pair with a sweater and a jacket...

Now if I can just find that lil' rascal gold watch, my Goodwill finds will be complete....well til next week :)

Day 102: Thrifty Thursday

I found this skirt mainly to match my fabulous wooden necklace (also thrifted) for....$4. Love a little tribal pattern in my wardrobe, don't you?

Day 49: Workin' on a Sunday

Yes sorry this post is going to be short and sweet. I am working today....Xing is sponsoring a semi-pro football team, the Broomfield Dawgs, and Lindsey has to put on her Marketing Coordinator pants and go meet the owner. And then.............i get to sample and hand out t-shirts. Well this marks the first weekend of many this summer where I will be working.

Anyways here's my new purse, its happy:

Day 5: DIY necklace/scarf

Problem. I love all my tshirts. So off to the goodwill I go!

Cut tshirt just below pits, and also cut off bottom thingy. 

 Then cut one continuous strand. Put around legs for more control. Lovely view of my crotch here!

Start looping, gather it all at the top, then tie both ends together. (check out my lovely Dexter approved door)

I suppose I'll model my creation but I'm not, repeat not, showing my face today. Still sick and pale.
