Day 121: Yes, I'm Wearing a Pillowcase

After wearing this shirt for an entire day, I have come to the realization that yes, it is indeed a pillowcase, but a flattering pillowcase, if there is such a thing. I picked it up at a Goodwill down in Charlestown, SC. Hurricane Irene decided to by-pass Charleston completely, and just leave us with a dreary, rainy day. One that was perfect for Goodwill shopping. My friend Megs and I found some treasures. I can't wait to share!

So today Maggie, my Dad's yellow lab, did a little photo shoot. She wanted to be in every picture too.
Flippy-Floppies: Reef $30, Shorts: Marshalls (Guess) $7, Belt: Fossil Gift from Sis, Top: Goodwill $3.79, Necklace: Gift from Momma

This is Maggie, my parent's yellow lab, she wanted to be in every picture

Oh yeah, lets talk about these shorts, LONG, but not too long, and for $7, put em in the cart!

She poses so nicely, don't you think?

Yes, my home is surrounded by hay bales.

Day 120: My Apologies

Dear Everyone,

Sorry I have been absent for a week with no warning of my absence. There was a beach and a best friend that demanded my attention. I needed a week long break from the internet, my phone, and my normal day-to-day activities.  It. Was. Marvelous.

Love you wong time,
Lindsey

Day 119: I Effin' Love This Jacket

I have two pet peeves in this world: socks that don't stay put, and jacket sleeves that are too short. The first peeve is easy to fix, just get new socks, the second (thanks to my genetically long ape arms) is not. I have recently learned that Gap has a "Tall" collection. This pleases me.

I saw this jacket in an ad in the Fall Collection issue of Marie Claire, I checked it out on the world wide web and here's what I discovered:  I think this jacket may be "the one"

Reasons I love this jacket:
#1) Hits at the hip (super duper long, yo!)
#2) Long sleeves listed as one of the features
#3) Olive in color
#4) Cinch waist

Reasons I hate this jacket:
#1) its $128

Yikes, I haven't paid that much for, well, anything my entire adult life (in high school I did have a phase where I would only buy jeans from the Buckle, that went away quickly when I had to start paying my own bills)

To invest or not to invest, sigh, that is the question. I'm afraid that if I wait too long, this little Fall Collection exclusive will be bye bye birdie. The crisp fall air is almost upon me, I would love to find a jacket long enough to keep it off my back!
So I wonder, do they have this gem in stores, or is this an online only deal. I must investigate. Wish me happy hunting.

Day 118: In Heaven, I Hope the Clouds are Made of Cool Whip

Wow, what a busy, stressful,  hectic, middle finger flipping, but surprisingly fulfilling day.  I tend to do three things after a stressful workday: "Goodwill therapy", some sort of fast food, and strawberry shortcake (or something else equally sweet).

In hindsight, the fast food was a horrible idea. The Goodwill and the shortcake, mucho beuno. If there is one thing that will bring me out of my funk, it is Strawberry Shortcake.

Shoes: Goodwill $6, Tights: Wally's $3, Shirt: Goodwill $3, Belt: Goodwill $1
Why in the world I almost passed this shirt up is beyond me. I had it in my hand at the Goodwill yesterday, and for some reason talked myself out of buying it. I mean, come on, it was $3! I then obsessed over it all night long, and decided if it was there when I returned today, our union was meant to be.

It was still there....and I am in love. Its long enough to wear with leggings, but short enough to wear with shorts, I can belt it, leave it baggy, wear with sandals, dress it up, dress it down...so excited! Really can't wait to pair it with some things for fall....ahhhhhh plaid,  I love you so.

I also picked up the new issue of Marie Claire, could never ever afford anything in that magazine, but I do love looking at all the pretty pictures.

I think everything in this world would be better if we put a lil' Cool Whip on top, don't you agree?

Day 117: Daydreaming

Is there a particular place that you wish you could go, teleport out of your current 9-5, and be magically whisked away to?
This, in fact, is that place for me. It is called Piney Lake, in Vail Colorado, and sadly, I haven't been to this magical place in over 2 years. This picture doesn't even come close to capturing the beauty that awaits you there.
I have only been on one measly hike this summer, and I used to make fun of  the people that lived in Denver and merely looked at the mountains, never leaving their bubble of the city and going to explore their wonder. I have become one of those people. I mean look at this place? Why haven't I been up there? I'll answer that for you: I've been working almost every weekend.
The fact of the matter is, I love snowboarding, I love snow, I love the chill of the mountain air...but my true love is really Summertime in the mountains.
That is why, I have decided to go here, this coming Sunday, I am heading west my friends!

I hope all of you reading this have a magical place you can go to, if even just for a short while. (It turns out I  need to go to bed as I am using phrases such as "even for a short while"  and "beauty that awaits you there")

Day 116: Boat Drinks!

After 6 days straight of the grind, I finally had a day off today! I decided to dedicate my morning to weeding and organizing our backyard. It was kind of a disaster area. No weed was safe.

Afterward I dedicated the remainder of my afternoon to laundry, grocery shopping, and library.

This is what I wore doing errands.....jeans was a big mistake, it was hotter than two mice humpin in a wool sock outside today!

Shoes: Goodwill $5, Jeans: Target $20, Top: Target: $15, Necklace: made by moi

Man, i am soooo glad I found you boat shoes!

Please disregard my split ends, the balling fabric, and focus on this awesome necklace I made..
I've discovered that I wear this outfit, or some version thereof, quite a bit: white jeans, peachy top, long necklace. I need to spice it up a bit!

I also think I am going to enter this craft fair that is close to Wash Park. It is only a $50 entry fee, and I can start working on my "Fall Jewelry Collection." Who knows, it might be fun!

Happy Monday people. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

Day 115: Colored Jeans?

This is one trend I have always thought "Just don't go there." Leave this one to the stick-thin celebrities with their on call personal trainers and personal chefs.

I do have a rule of thumb when trying trends: Try to find it at the Goodwill first.
Nothing worse then paying full price for a trendy piece of clothing that will be an afterthought in less than a month.

Once again, the Goodwill gods have shined their light upon me this month:
Shoes: Wal Mart $15, Shirt: Wal Mart $5, Jeans: Goodwill $6

Picked these bad boys up for $6. I wasn't sure if they were for me at first seeing them on the rack. But I've been flirting with the idea of trying colored denim for awhile now. Perfect fit, long enough (perhaps a little too long) and the icing on the cake: I found a Tattered Cover (big, awesome book store in Denver) receipt in the pocket. These jeans are meant for me.

Can't wait til fall so I can tuck these into some boots! Pair with a sweater and a jacket...

Now if I can just find that lil' rascal gold watch, my Goodwill finds will be complete....well til next week :)

Day 114: Decisions, Decisions

I found these photos that I thought were lost forever, on my work memory card. Denver has this event called "First Friday" the first Friday of every month, basically its an art walk, all the local galleries open their doors to the public and showcase their art. Food trucks, local bands, Dj's on corners of streets, it is soooo much fun. It happens on Sante Fe, which within biking distance from my apartment, but I am sorry to say I have only made it once. Very bad girl.

I also wanted to look very cute for my first First Friday, so I tried on lots of different tops with this skirt.

This is the one I decided on:

I made this necklace:
Josh and I scored some free cotton candy...and decided to take the cheesiest photo ever...(not sure how I talked him into this)
I also fell in love with the side of this building:
And the sunset that occurred behind it:

And, randomly, there was a Jurassic Park jeep parked by they side of the road. I was obsessed with this movie when I was young. It had the jack on the front and everything. It was so cool!
All in all a very splendid evening.

Day 113: Black Beauty

There are certain months the Goodwill gods just shine upon you. I guess this is one of my months. Granted, I have nowhere to wear this skirt really, but it fit so well, I couldn't pass it up. I have been in the market for a black skirt for quite some time now.

What I love about this skirt is that it can be dressy or casual, just depends on the top, and the shoes of course. And the pockets, LOVE the pockets! The pleating in the front is not bad either...Oh, the fact that it was $4, I love that too.
Shoes: Buckle, Skirt: Goodwill, Tank: F21 $2.50, Necklace: Gift from Momma (err more like I stole it)

Turns out I have a meeting with this lady about some possible events, so I'm getting to wear this out today after all. Think she should give me some events just based on my outfit.

Day 112: Leather Backpack, Mini Version

I found one! A leather backpack! Well, a slightly smaller version of what I wanted, but nonetheless a great Goodwill find. Love the color, and psssst (it was half price)

Josh took me to the Goodwill for a redemption of one of my birthday "coupons." We then did the Applebee's 2 for $20 deal (which I'm not a huge fan of corporate chain restaurants, but this is really a good bang for your buck, and its tasty to boot!)

Shoes: Goodwill $5, Jeans: Target $20, Shirt: Target $15, Vest: Goodwill $4, Purse: Goodwill $5

I really have to get a new camera. This pictures are awful!

I am still on the hunt for a slighter larger version of this purse, his older backpack brother. Lets hope for the best. Have a good weekend everybody!
