Maxi Skirt

I have been wanting one of these little guys for quite some time now: the Maxi Skirt. Problem: my legs are abnormally long for my body so THEY ARE NEVER LONG ENOUGH!

Enter: Goodwill hunting. Thank you my favorite Goodwill on Leetsdale avenue. You are the best. Not only is it black and white (goes with everything) but it is almost too long! Yay!

Oh. And did I mention it was 2 dolla?!!!!

So Josh and I ran the Trail at Red Rocks today. Confession: I find Red Rocks to be one of the coolest places in all of the front range. Truth be told, I sort of ran but mostly walked as it turns out it is a 4 mile run and not the 2.5 like we had originally thought. No wonder I'm sore! I didn't bring my camera up there as I was too busy concentrating on not dying to take photos. But to give you an idea of what we are working with here:

As for the shopping ban: still going strong a week later.. i told my mom of my plans and she got a good chuckle out of it. And Josh replied, "Not even to the Goodwill?" I said, "Oh, you're right, this will be tough." So the ban still stands, but a shopping trip once a month to the Goodwill will be allowed and I cannot spend more than $20. Ready. Go!

Day 146: Goodbye Sandals, Hello Auntiehood!

Well its inevitable, the snow is on its way tomorrow. I decided to give my favorite sandals (thanks mom) one last tour on the town before winter rears its ugly head.

I also had an awesome wake up call this morning, my nephew has reared his cute little head out into the world! He is healthy and beautiful, and my first trip into Auntie-land. He is three states away, unfortunately so I can't hold him just yet. I wanted to just hop on a plane to be there to welcome him into this world but I have a second interview tomorrow. Job first, then hold bebe.

I love the color of these pants, you will probably get sick of seeing these this fall/winter, I feel they will be making lots of appearances. I do also love the color the Aspen trees have been turning...its almost neon yellow. So purty.

Day 142: Well, That Was Easy

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have noticed the current trend (well, I believe it started last summer actually) of feather earrings. Some are pretty extreme, some are medium crazy, and some are just right.

After doing a little research, and cringing at multiple price tags (hello $45!) I decided, hey, I could make that!

So I Googled "how to make feather earrings", watched a video, went to JoAnn's Fabrics, spent $12 (this is for multiple earrings,etc) and viola! Feather Earrings.

I am serious about this too ladies, the easiest DIY I've ever made. When I get my craft studio up and running, I will share how easy it really is! But for now I want to just show you the end result.

This is my first go at this so the tops of the feathers seem to be "molting" a little bit, but I think the next go round will be way better. I am also working on another "feather hair clip" I can't wait to share!

Day 135: Thrifty Thursday: The Fabric of My Life

I'll have to admit, I don't know when to use the term "shirt" "blouse" "top" "boob cover up"...I mean, what's the difference? Is there a correct term?

I guess if I had to call anything I own a "blouse" it would be this garment right here. I think it is so feminine for some reason...well for my closet. Its pink! I never wear pink. However, there was just something about it that I liked, turns out not the most flattering cut, but with the right necklace it looks pretty cute. It should probably be paired with something equally as girlie, say, a skirt...I just didn't have the strength today!

I got this handmade woven cotton "shirt" last month in Charleston on Megs and I's "Hurricane Goodwill Shopping Day". What a great day that was with an old friend of mine, if I could only just put that day on replay for awhile.....

I made this necklace ages ago with a simple copper chain (from Michaels) and old earrings, knickknacks, I think I even dismantled an old keychain..the result was pretty cute. Only downfall: impossible not to get tangled, blame the craftsmanship! 

Day 132: A Good In-VEST-ment

I don't know if any of you have ever had the pleasure of  checking out Kendi at Kendi Everyday, but I believe her to be fabulous, and one of my ultimate blog crushes. Her style is just awesome, and you gotta love that photographer hubby of hers (you can tell she doesn't have to go through the pain of a tripod like I do).

Anyways, she wears this army green vest, that is spectacular, and I have finally found something similar. Thank you Old Navy, sometimes you really surprise me.

Day 130: Inspiration Monday...on a Wednesday!

Well, Two Birds, sorry that I'm late. I tend to do this from time to time, its funny now that I'm a part-timer I thought I would have more time to blog, wrong again! I finally have time to clean, do laundry, clean out the closet (which I am kind of embarrassed to admit-I own 60 pairs of shoes...and that's after the clean-out!) and send out about, oh, 20 resumes or so a day. Busy little bee these days!

I love the idea of taking maxi dresses into fall, add a little jacket, and you're good to go! Welp, everyone, the word of the day is "Productive"..I'm out!

Day 126: Up the Creek

Ladies, I have found the most comfortable bra on the planet. I was a little hesitant to buy these as most "bandeau" bras, I've found, are complete crap, don't help at all in the "hiding the nips" department, and give you the dreaded "uni-boob". This one,my friends, is different.

Overall Review:
Value: At $10.94, I thought the price to be a little steep....then I wore it for a day...totally worth it!
Support: Very Low Impact bra (I made the mistake of wearing one horseback riding, I thought at an A cup I would be fine, not a wise decision, but for everyday wear, and activities like yoga, it is perfect)
Comfort: O.M.G. you'll never want to take it off. The softest bra I've ever worn.
Versatility: I think they claim you can wear it 8 different ways. I've worn it as a bandeau underneath a baggy tank top, stays in place beautifully. I've also worn it like a regular sports bra...does good things that way too.
Summary: Go buy one, you will love it!

Day 122: Five Finger Discount

If there is one thing in this world I know for certain: I have a bit of a shopping problem. But when an over sized patterned tee that fits perfectly and a lariat necklace cross your path, you don't let them pass you by. Isn't that a golden rule? I'm sure it is printed somewhere, "Convenient Theories For Lindsey", yeah, that exists somewhere! 

I am still sharing the awesome treasures I found at the Goodwill in Charleston. This rather cute backpack only set me back $3. Not too shabby. Still not the leather backpack of my dreams but it will suffice. 

The gladiators, a perfect shade of tan, I snagged out of Momma's closet this morning, sadly I have to give them back before I leave (or do I?) (mu-hoo-hoo-ha-ha...that's my evil shoe stealing villain laugh) She even said, "Don't even think about it!" she knows me so well. Little shoe stealer, I am!

Day 115: Colored Jeans?

This is one trend I have always thought "Just don't go there." Leave this one to the stick-thin celebrities with their on call personal trainers and personal chefs.

I do have a rule of thumb when trying trends: Try to find it at the Goodwill first.
Nothing worse then paying full price for a trendy piece of clothing that will be an afterthought in less than a month.

Once again, the Goodwill gods have shined their light upon me this month:

Picked these bad boys up for $6. I wasn't sure if they were for me at first seeing them on the rack. But I've been flirting with the idea of trying colored denim for awhile now. Perfect fit, long enough (perhaps a little too long) and the icing on the cake: I found a Tattered Cover (big, awesome book store in Denver) receipt in the pocket. These jeans are meant for me.

Can't wait til fall so I can tuck these into some boots! Pair with a sweater and a jacket...

Now if I can just find that lil' rascal gold watch, my Goodwill finds will be complete....well til next week :)

Day 114: Decisions, Decisions

I found these photos that I thought were lost forever, on my work memory card. Denver has this event called "First Friday" the first Friday of every month, basically its an art walk, all the local galleries open their doors to the public and showcase their art. Food trucks, local bands, Dj's on corners of streets, it is soooo much fun. It happens on Sante Fe, which within biking distance from my apartment, but I am sorry to say I have only made it once. Very bad girl.

I also wanted to look very cute for my first First Friday, so I tried on lots of different tops with this skirt.

Josh and I scored some free cotton candy...and decided to take the cheesiest photo ever...(not sure how I talked him into this)

And, randomly, there was a Jurassic Park jeep parked by they side of the road. I was obsessed with this movie when I was young. It had the jack on the front and everything. It was so cool!

 

All in all a very splendid evening.
